Drinking the Tarantula Juice
Posted on Monday, June 29th, 2009 at 9:30 pmThis is a perfectly respectable job post, really, minus the weird “will not accept employment applications by phone” tacked on at the end.
And the website itself, while thematically perhaps not my cup of tea, seems pretty reasonable as well. Full of content that I’m sure interests its readers. Nice images. Photo galleries, even! John Wayne pics!
My buffalo bone to chaw on this time is over the title of the magazine.
I mean, yes, I realize it’s been around for 16 years and that was before the Internet back when the PC movement was all wild and wooly, and even a tenderfoot would agree that Cowboys & Native Americans magazine doesn’t have quite the same ring.
But now that we’re in the year 2009 and magazines are folding left and right and even high school students know that the 12 million people living in the U.S. before the Euros showed up were, in 40 years, reduced to a mere 237,000 …
Well, I’m just sayin, sounds a little hair in the butter to me.
Then again, Cowboys & Indians probably sells more issues than Vanity Fair.
