Your Unemployed Daughter

This week has been a red-letter week of sorts, at least in my book. Allow me to tell you why.

1. I bought a new shower curtain. Finally. And it’s pretty darn cute. Not to mention, my old one was hella moldy. Here’s a pic.

2. I was assigned a new project. Yip-de-doo! (Con: it involves reading Dan Brown’s latest masterpiece, Secrets of the Lost Symbol. If one more pompous character winks in the midst of death while delivering a condescending speech about art, religion, or Masonic rites, I will scream. Plus, Robert Langdon? You’re still wearing turtlenecks? There is no such thing as mime-chic.) But seriously, folks. Work is good. Right?

3. The one and only (OMG!) Pat Kiernan tweeted my post about office lunch etiquette. And he actually called me funny. I swoon. Now, if I could just get Roger Clark to notice me…

4. I got called an economical idiot, but at the same time, at least they read me! Then I struggled to come to terms with my capitalist leanings. I think I won. So I went shopping (picked up aforementioned shower curtain as well as a $6.99 pitcher in which there is now tea, in my refrigerator, which makes me oddly happy).

5. I received my first ever donation, in the amount of $10! (Thank you, JS.) It’s a relief to know that that little yellow button to your left actually works. My PayPal’s totally set up now, y’all.

6. I’m getting a recession haircut today: the bang trim. I’m starting to look a little sheepdoggy, and the owner of my gym (who occasionally sports a mohawk) mentioned that he liked my sweaty, bedraggled bangs last night. Which means, something has to give. For a mere $10, I should be presentable again. (Thanks, again, JS!). Just you wait.

Of course, there have been annoying things that happened this week, too. For instance, I got told I was an economical idiot. I ate too many Reduced-Fat Cheez-Its and felt gross. Jen almost got kicked off Top Chef. And I’m still waiting for some paychecks… any day now, any day.

Yet in the end, ’tis better to focus on the positive than the negative, no? After all, it’s Friday, and I’ve always been more of a glass-half-full (preferably of Gruner) kind of gal.
