I am admittedly not a big football person. My last Superbowl may, in fact, have actually involved recording that infamous and truly terrible shuffle on the fam’s new VHS recorder and then watching it over and over to the discontent of the aforementioned fam, except little bro, who may or may not have helped choreograph some alternative dance numbers for a special living room performance.
However, maybe it’s all the boxing classes and an ensuing and rather newfound admiration for things athletical—especially things involving jumping around and catching high-velocity objects and headspins and major agility and speed and grace and violence—but I was pretty impressed with those players last night. And quite excited that the Saints won (maybe it’s a Southern thing, or maybe I just love gold pants). But anyways: ___ ___! (I can’t bring myself to actually type it as it goes against my deepest copy instincts, but ya’all know what I’m saying.)

January 3, 2010. AKA, Day of Great Domesticity. All around the Internets it seems people are cooking and baking and huddling in their tiny and abnormally chilly apartments because it’s 20 degrees and snowing here in New York City.
I, for one, am cooking a lentil stew, with liberal use of red wine vinegar. I have watered the plants and checked to make sure they’re not freezing on my window ledges; I have dressed in ski socks, a flannel shirt, and am trying out the American Apparel shiny leggings. I think I might even like them.

I’ve been bad. The sleep-creep has started up again. Remember my 4 am-1 pm sleep sched back in the summer of neverending consequence? Ah yes, well, it’s back with a bit of a vengeance.
I blame this in part on some really good books I’ve been reading at night. The kind of books that keep you up until 1 am and when you look at your clock and find you’re not tired (the books are that good/exciting/compelling/insomnia-inducing), you just keep reading.

Canadian expat Andrea Lane spills her fashion secrets to YUD Fashion Director Lindsey Hunter Lopez. All eyes are on Andrea during a dinner at New York’s Fig & Olive.
LHL: What’s your favorite part of your outfit?
AL: I love that my green top is slouchy … slouchy items give you more versatility in what you can pair with them (i.e. leggings, skirt, jeans). You can also play around with what you wear underneath since they are fairly open at the sides. I normally wear an American Apparel bodysuit under shirts and dresses like these but Urban Outfitters has a great lace bodysuit that would make the outfit stand out.
LHL: Where do you shop when you’re trying to be thrifty?
AL: I loathe and love Forever 21. I am always surprised by some of the things that come out of that store. But it’s great for basic slouchy tanks, and I find a lot of cuffs there. The good jewelry sells quickly and isn’t often restocked, so go often and no one will know it’s from Forever 21!
